Separation Anxiety in Early Childhood

Secure attachments are vital for healthy development. Children who experience early care giving that is not sensitive and responsive, develop anxious insecure attachments. Children whose separation anxiety is allowed to continue for prolonged periods in the hope the eventually they will “settle in” could also be prone to future separation anxiety disorders.
